Do I need to have a UK based guarantor?

A guarantor can be anyone who is not a full time student, and they do not need to be a UK resident. Your guarantor will take responsibility for any unpaid arrears during your tenancy period.

What happens to my deposit? Is it refundable?

The deposit you pay is put into a Government approved tenancy deposit scheme. A certificate of the same is emailed to you which protects your deposit. The deposit is refundable 10 working days after your tenancy ends.

Deductions for damages and or penalties will be taken out of your deposit

How can I pay my booking fee?

Booking fees can be paid directly into the bank account as stated in your invoice, over the telephone by a debit card or on feel free to pop in the office, to make the payment

Is there an age limit for booking accommodation with Thames Wharf North?

We have no upper age limits on our accommodation; however, we do need residents to be over 18, and in full time education. This is due to the legally binding tenancy agreement that each tenant is required to sign before living with us at Thames Wharf North.

How secure is the accommodation?

We have CCTV in and around the property and a electronic key fob entry system for the main entrance. There is also an intercom facility in each room, two on site staff/wardens and a 24/7 emergency mobile number for you to contact.

Do I have to pay council tax?

Students don’t have to pay council tax in the UK.

Do I need a TV License?

If you bring your own TV or if you want to watch or record programmes as they are being shown on any other device, such as your mobile phone, tablet or computer, you will need a TV License.

What if something in my room breaks or isn’t working?

Let us know as soon at your earliest via by email or by visiting our office. Our team are here to help 24/7. Alternatively, you can also inform the Wardens at Flat 1 or 2 in writing.

Can I have pets?

No, pets are not allowed under the terms of your tenancy agreement.

Can I receive post and parcels?

Parcels can be delivered to our centrally based office on 65 George Street, OX1 2BQ, we are open Monday – Friday 08:30-18:00. A member of our staff will send you an email once a parcel is received. For security you will need to provide photo ID and give a signature to confirm collection. Post will not be given out to other residents on your behalf without written authorisation.

Can I extend my contract length?

Contracts can be extended at any time provided there is availability. There is a charge of £75 for contract renewals. If you wish to change your room after your initial contract expires you are able to do so and this incurs a charge of £75 professional cleaning.

Can I smoke in the residence?

Smoking including E cigarettes is not permitted in the residence and is restricted to at least 3 meters away from the building, smoking within the residence with or without the interference of the fire alarms will incur penalties.

Does Thames Wharf North supply linen?

Thames Wharf North can provide linen at an extra cost, this includes bedding, pillow, towel and bathroom mats. If you wish to book this service please email the accommodation officer when making your booking.

What bills are included in the rent?

Gas, electricity and water are included in the rent.

Does the accommodation have internet?

Yes the accommodation has WiFi and this is at a separate cost. Forms will be emailed to you the day you are checking in to Thames Wharf North and your internet username and password will be sent to you once you have competed the payment process.

How many students share a kitchen?

Thames Wharf North has a large kitchen on each floor with double facilities and ample seating/dining area, dry food storage space and fridge/freezers. This is shared between 6 to 8 people on each floor. There is also washing and drying facilities.
