Which pathway is right for me?
Our courses mostly cover the qualifications you need to get into university (HNC/HND and Foundation), or the English you need to make working in English better.
What levels are these courses?
The level of a course can be quite confusing if you’re not used to it.
- UK school certificate pass at age 16 (GCSEs) is level 1
- A good GCSE pass is level 2
- A and AS levels are level 3
- HNC and HND awards are levels 4 and 5
- The final year of a university degree is level 6.
Oxford Business College is best known for its courses at levels 3, 4 and 5, but also have a Pre-MBA level (level 7).
IELTS requirements where English is not your first language
To take the OBC foundation course you will require an IELTS score of 4.0+ / B1
To take a BTEC level 3, 4 or 5 course you will require an IELTS score of 5.5+ / B2
For English courses there is no entry requirement.

HNC and HND (levels 4-5)
With our BTEC HNC (Level 4) qualification you can apply to the first or second year at many universities. It takes as little as three terms / nine months to complete.
Or you can complete our BTEC HND course (Level 5) in a minimum of 4 terms / 12 months. If you get the required grades this will get you into the final year of a university course.
“our 12 month HND can get you onto the final year at many UK universities…”
The awarding body for these courses is Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body accredited by the UK government.
Following successful completion of the HNC programme you can continue on to the HND Business qualification or take the option to specialise in a pathway:
- Marketing pathway
- Human resources pathway
- Management studies pathway
- Accounting pathway
Each of these has core modules common to all work in business, plus some more specialised modules for your chosen preference.
Any of these courses can be started in any term. This means you could join us as late as July of one year and with hard work and determination fast-track onto the third year at university in October of the next.
